THE STORY

Hi, my name is Edward Reid, I am a natural, photojournalist, wedding photographer based in Mayo, Ireland.  I love to tell wedding day stories through my work.  My main focus for all my weddings is to create some amazing memories and leave the couple with an exceptional client experience for their wedding.  I aim to let my clients enjoy their wedding day as much as possible, meaning for the most part being left to enjoy the time on the day as much as possible while achieving beautiful natural results in you wedding images.

Some words that past couples have used to describe my approach are, “Relaxed”, “Personal”, “Discreet”, “Impeccably Professional” and “Calming to be around”.  I have outlined below what my usual wedding day is like for me.

THE APPROACH

The Morning…

I like to arrive for morning preps, in time to capture details that are important throughout the day.  I also document the real things that happen on through the morning, including some portraits and photos with family if that is what you would like.  I find the morning of a wedding a brilliant way to show my relaxed persona and approach to wedding photography, when this rubs off on family and bridal party, they are left more comfortable around me during the rest of the day resulting in a more enjoyable shoot with more natural results.  My approach leaves me letting the morning happen as it would if you didn’t have a photographer in the house and we can fit in some portraits before you leave if we get the time on the morning.

The Ceremony…

I like to document wedding ceremonies in a discreet manner, quietly moving, capturing key shots aswell as creative images that embrace all the emotions of what is taking place.  I listen a lot throughout weddings, usually when there is public speaking like during the ceremony but also at speeches, doing this lets me know the best time to capture the best expressions.  I like to capture the natural, candid side of your guests at times that make the best pictures.

The Formals…

Family formal photographs to most people are an essential part of a wedding.  I like to capture these in good light, but also keeping these to a minimum but essentially getting you what you would like.  I much prefer to keep the day moving and being able to capture real memories than spending too long setting up formals and getting the majority if not all of the formals done early in the day allows me to capture the real natural moments of your wedding day as well as letting you be at your own wedding rather than spending the entire day on a photoshoot!

The Location…

I always spend a little time advising or suggesting ideas for locations, during consultation.  I love to be able to have a bit of fun without the cheese element in making beautiful images on location.  I have state of the art studio location lighting to deal with the most challenging of light we might be presented with on the day.  I also like to use some lighting to create a different mood to some of your photos, along with being able to show the detail in the dress, that more often than not causes more than one sleepless night!  All this being said, I don’t like to keep you for too long on location, or it to feel too much like a photo-shoot.  The general consensus among my couples is that they usually want to get back to enjoy some of the drinks reception before the meal, and I totally agree with that.

Back To The Venue…

I like to get back to the venue in time for you to be able to enjoy the drinks reception before you go in for your meal.  Usually during this, I am taking the little details and again the natural chats, banter and fun of your guests, family & friends.  I have learned from feedback that these natural moments that do tell the real story of your day are what people love, and I can do this in a way, without being intrusive to your guests, like previous parts of the day, I aim to go unnoticed.

Speeches…

If you would like me to cover your speeches, this can be another great time to get some of the most candid, emotional and fun photographs of your immediate family, great friends and your guests.  Usually, there will be numerous times throughout speeches that will evoke deep, natural expressions and this for me proves to be an easy time for me to capture that.

First Dance…

I like to cover first dance photos with some dynamic lighting added to give extra impact to your tender first few steps!  I usually document your dance, and bridal party along with some of your family and guests.  This can also be a great time to get the fun of your wedding, I usually wait for the first 3-4 songs and slip away then while everyone lets their hair down!

All this being said, this is a typical wedding day for me, however I would be happy to discuss your plans should your wedding be any different and I can tailor to suit.

I am available to cover weddings throughout the Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon & Galway, although I am willing to travel to capture your special day!  Please get in touch, check availability and I can provide more information on packages, coverage options and more samples of full real weddings.

Thanks…
Ed.
